UK Pipe Show

Good news! There will be a UK Pipe Show this year; Sunday 22nd May at Canal House Bar, 48-52 Canal Street, Nottingham.

Following on from last year's legal complications, there will not be a pipe smoking contest, just the pipe exhibition. A number of pipe makers and retailers will be there showcasing their work and selling pipes and accessories. There's no entry fee and the Canal House offer a huge selection of Ales, Spirits and delicious food. The venue (unlike the Showground) is in Nottingham city centre and will be much easier to get to via public transport.

Previous years have been good fun and it's always nice to see and meet a wider group of pipe smokers.

If anyone is interested in being there for the Saturday evening, Chris Askwith is looking to arrange an informal "pre-show gathering". Chris can be contacted via his Facebook page.

Apologies...again.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, things have been pretty busy at home and my new shift pattern at work has cut into my online time as well. Things have now settled down a bit so I should be able to post a bit more frequently.

On the plus side, I've got a new DSLR camera so I will be taking lots more photos to upload.

Jeffrey Street Whisky & Tobacco

Was great to meet up with Jo and Hector yesterday. Definitely looking forward to visiting their new shop, sounds like they're definitely going for the old-school, traditional style. Having them mix customers' individual blends sounds wonderful...I've already got a few ideas for mine!
We also need to decide on a mixture for the club's exclusive blend, so please put your suggestions in the comments below.

Next meeting(s).

Next meeting will be Saturday 13th December, then we will be having a break until Saturday 10th January 2015.

New tobacconist in Edinburgh!

Just found out today that a new specialist tobacconist will be opening in Edinburgh.
We will be getting more information at the next meeting (Saturday 13th December), as they would like to collaborate with us for some new pipe blends :-)

Pipes or cigars.

As well as being pipe smokers, a few of us also smoke cigars so feel free to join us if you're looking for a herf in Edinburgh.
Henrick's have a great selection of whiskies, rums and brandies to pair with your favourite cigar.

August 23rd meeting.

Mixed forecast for tomorrow but Henrick's awning should keep us dry

Saturday, 26 July 2014

July 26th.

Just realised that I'd missed today's meeting off the calendar...couple of us are already at Henrick's if anyone wants to join us.

It's a boy!

Couple of weeks late but congratulations to Ailsa and Chris (our hosts at Henrick's), for the birth of their son Hamish.
We got him a teddy bear, which apparently he already loves.

12th July Meeting

Although Johnny, Marcin and I will be heading down to Newark next Saturday, Steve and Rob have both said they will be around if anyone still wants to meet up at Henrick's.

Meeting updates

Last few meetings have been relatively quiet but we've still had a very pleasant time and managed to put the world to rights.
The weather has definitely been improving (although we've not put the coats away just yet).

The armchairs that Henrick's have moved out to the deck do add a nice touch and they're very comfortable, although a bit deep.

International Pipe Smoking Day

Happy IPSD folks :-)
A welcome return from Ricardo and a new arrival from Rob helped Marcin, Steve and myself make it a very International evening; England, Poland, Chile and Canada were represented whilst Rob's girlfriend (who did express an interest in trying a pipe next time) made sure we actually had a Scot at the table.

Burn's Night Meeting.

Thanks to Steve and Marcin for braving the weather on Saturday. Terry was probably the smarter one staying home warm and dry! lol

The rain held off for most of the afternoon but when it came back on we definitely needed the awning! The heaters were also greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any Haggis flavoured tobacco so I had to make do with some Mac Baren Scottish Blend, we also had a couple of drams of Highland Park and several pints of Stewart Brewing's Pentland IPA to help toast the bard ;-)

As usual Chris, Ailsa and all their staff at Henrick's were very welcoming...it was particularly nice when Chris said that they consider us "part of the family" now. Looking forward to seeing the plans for the potential alterations to the beer garden; cushions and a new heater sounded especially promising.
